Portuguese as a Second Language
Português para Estrangeiros
This course is offered to all foreigners who want to learn Portuguese quickly, in a dynamic and objective way. Starting with practical everyday situations and introducing grammar specific issues, the student has the opportunity to improve his/her language skills in real socio-cultural and professional processes.
Much more than simply teaching Portuguese, DIZZ makes it easier for students to dive into the Brazilian way of life, with a teaching method that ensures sociolinguistic, grammatical, discursive and strategic skills for fast and efficient communication in the Portuguese language.
The modules consist of: 2 basic, 1 intermediate and 1 advanced — intensive and regular — depending on the urgency and availability of each student.
CELPE-BRAS Exam Preparation
CELPE-BRAS is the only internationally recognized Certificate in Portuguese for Foreigners. It is accepted by companies and educational institutions as proof of proficiency in Portuguese.
It certifies 4 levels of proficiency: Intermediate, Upper Intermediate, Advanced and Upper Advanced. The exam is held on two times per year – in April and October.
At DIZZ we have two periods of course preparation: from January to March and from July to September with 3 hour per week and a total course load of 30 hours.
Teaching Material
Besides the books listed for each level and segment, the classes have extensive teaching support material, such as handouts, songs, videos, movies, games and audio exercises.
Terms
We have various modalities, according to the need and urgency of each student or group. Lessons can be administered in the following modules:
Regular:
3 hours per week - 2 times a week - 1:30min class;
4.5 hours weekly - 3 times a week - 1:30min class;
Semi-Intensive:
6 hours per week - 3 times a week - 2:00 class;
Intensive:
10 hours per week - 5 times a week - 2:00 class;
Immersion:
6 hours a day - daily - from 10am to 16pm.
English for Specific Purpose (ESP)
Inglês para Fins Específicos
Generally of limited duration, this course is tailor-made for those who want to prepare very quickly for specific needs, such as trips, exams, presentations, or meetings.
English for General Business Purposes (EGBP)
Inglês para Negócios
Focusing on general students’ needs - such as those related to day to day business issues — it is ideal for people who need, for example, to prepare a report, send an e-mail, write a proposal, make a presentation, and also to feel comfortable with the terminology of their profession.
English For Specific Business Purposes (ESBP)
Inglês Instrumental para Negócios
This course is an offshoot of the EGBP, but meeting the needs and specific skills of each profession. It is English tailored for those whose objective is to obtain communication expertise in their professional specialization.
